General Help

The One Stop Application website allows villagers to apply for permits, and registrations. It also allows villagers to track and search for permits, and registrations throughout the Village of New Lenox.

You can save travel and waiting time by filing for permits and registrations online and checking your application’s status any time of day or night. You can also pay permit and registration fees online, and download and print your own building permits and other documents.

If you need immediate action on a permit application, or if you have a complicated special event or are not sure what is required for the project you’re planning, it may still be better to come to Village Hall for in-person guidance.

You will be able to pay for your permit or occupational registration application once its status is “Permit Approved” or “Approved” (for registrations). In order to ensure that web users are being charged the correct fees, we do not require or allow payment before all reviews have been completed.

Once your application is approved you will be notified by email, and when you view your application on the OneStopApp you will see a “Pay Fees” link on the same line as the “View”, “Print Summary”, and “Add to Watch List” links.

When you click on the “Pay Fees” link the fees will be added to your shopping cart, where you will be able to review them before submitting payment. You can pay for up to 10 fees at one time.

If your credit card’s billing address is different than the mailing address you used when you registered for the OneStopApp, please make sure to click the “Specify my billing address” button.

First, make sure to leave off city, state, zip code, and any apartment or suite number if your address has one. Only type in the house number and street name and hit Search. You’ll be able to enter an apartment/suite number on the next screen, and we don’t need the city, state, or zip code to locate the address.

There are a few reasons why an address might not be found when you search:

  • It’s not an address legally recognized by the Village. The address you’re used to seeing and using might not be one that is officially associated with the parcel of land it’s on.
  • The Village’s GIS department may still be updating your neighborhood, especially if there has been a recent subdivision.
  • There may be an address error in our database.

If you’ve tried entering an address without an apartment/suite number, city, state, or zip code and still can’t find it, please call the One Stop Shop for assistance in determining what the legal address is for the location you’re searching for.

There is no limit to the size of a project when you file an online application. Larger-scale projects may require more documentation, which you can upload with your application or send to your Plan Reviewer once you are assigned one.

Yes. You will receive an email when your permit or registration application is approved. You can apply for as many individual permits/business registrations as you want. You can view the summary of your current and past applications by using the “Your Items” button.

Yes, we are working on adding additional permit and registration types to our online application website.

As soon as your application is submitted, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging that we received your application. One of our intake analysts will review your application and if it is complete, he/she will process it. In some cases, analysts will need additional information and/or clarification regarding your application and will contact you. You will receive a notification email as soon as a decision has been made regarding your application.

All that’s left before your permit or registration can be issued is payment. You can pay online using Visa, MasterCard, or Discover, or you can bring a check or money order to the Village Hall. As soon as your permit or registration is paid for, you’ll be able to download and print your permit or registration document.

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover online or in person. You can also pay in person with a check, cash, or money order at the One Stop Shop at 1 Veterans Pkwy.

The convenience fee for credit card payments is 2.35% of the total permit or registration fees. This is added to all credit card payments to offset the costs that our financial institution charges us to process credit card transactions.

Once the application is approved and fees are paid, you can download your permit or registration from the completed payment page. You can also find it again any time by finding the permit or registration in Your Items and clicking the “Downloads” link beneath the permit or registration header.
